First Eucharist

Our parish community prepares for the celebration of the first Eucharist through a programme called Do This in Memory. Put together by parents and cathechists, it started in Ireland in 2004. Coming from a deeply felt need to show that First Holy Communion is not about one day only, it tries to show that the main preparation for the sacrament should not take place in the school - but firstly in the family and then in the parish family. Do This in Memory is for those who live and/or worship in the parish of Our Lady of Victories, no matter where they go to school.

Do This in Memory is a voluntary programme where, once a month at the 12 pm Family Mass, we all gather together - the boys and girls from our parish who are preparing to celebrate their First Holy Communion, their families and our parish community. We look at different ways of what it means to be 'in communion' with the Lord and with each other.

We ran Do This in Memory for the first time in our parish in 2006/2007 and it has continued every year since. It is a journey full of surprises. If you have a daughter or son who would like to receive First Eucharist in the coming year and would like them to be part of Do This in Memory, please leave their details in the sacristy.
